Research Partner 1
Arnold Dennis Okoni-Williams (PhD) is a Consultant Conservation Ecologist with extensive experience in research and management in ecology and environment since 1995, and a keen field ornithologist. He is also a Senior Lecturer and Head at the Department of Biological Sciences, Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, with over 27 years of experience in teaching, research, student supervision, and mentorship, especially in conservation biology, and external examiner of the Department of Biological Sciences, Njala University for several years now. He has published many papers on fauna, flora, and general conservation themes. His professional career incorporates a significant component of research and development of biodiversity and education data and documentation systems in Sierra Leone. He contributed to and continues to play an important role in the development and implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP 2017-2026), National Wetlands Inventory and Wetlands Strategy for Sierra Leone, and many other biodiversity and environment-related policies development and program implementation in the country. He has served as a consultant or sub-consultant for many environmental impact assessments for various projects ranging from mining to hydroelectric and road development. He served as Technical Lead for the Preparation of Non-Detriment Findings for African Rosewood Pterocarpus erinaceus in Sierra Leone, Environment Consultant for the Bandajuma-Liberia Border Road and Bridges Project, Principal Consultant for the Preparation of the Sherbro River Estuary Management Plan in 2019/2020 and Consultant for the preparation of the Strategic Plan for the National Protected Areas Authority (NPAA), among others. He is currently the National Scientific Adviser to the Ramsar Convention and provides Scientific and technical support to the National Scientific Authority to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Some of his international experiences include working with partners from other countries within and out of Africa, particularly the BirdLife International and Wetlands International global and regional partnership on conservation and environment issues. His practical consultancy experience outside Sierra Leone includes three ecological impact assessments in Liberia for various development-related projects; before this, He participated in a national wetlands and waterbirds census in the Gambia in 1998. Since 1996, he has attended many international conferences, workshops, and training programs on biodiversity conservation issues, and many more similar programs in-country.

• Successfully spearheaded research activities and the development and use of research tools as a strategy to inform project outcomes. A. Regional Coordination duties
● Supported the running of the Regional Desk for Africa, which primarily coordinates regional and joint activities of DCI African sections.

Agro for Community Development and Empowerment - Sierra Leone, abbreviated as ACDE-SL, is a registered National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 2021. ACDE-SL engages in several humanitarian development works in the following broad categories: agriculture, education, health, water, hygiene, sanitation, environment, climate change, women and youth empowerment, research, and any other category of work feasible within the humanitarian development context. ACDE-SL works with the deprived, underserved, and marginalized communities in Sierra Leone.
